Simple Pleasures: The Moments of Life

In anticipation of the Thanksgiving holiday, I find myself thinking of the family and friends I am thankful for.  I am thankful for every person that has crossed my path, past or present.  Friend, family member, or acquaintance, they have all been important to my journey.

Everyone is put in our lives for a reason, of that I am sure.  Positive or negative, happy or hurtful I am appreciative of all the experiences I have had with people in my 46 years.  They have developed my character and made me who I am.

As I reflect on this, I think of the few simple pleasures of my past week.  They are all due to people.

  • Definitely the highlight of my week was a spontaneous trip to go visit my son who is in college at the University of Redlands. I just couldn’t take it any longer. Even though I broke my own rules on what our college kids need from us, I am thankful he is so close that when his mama’s heart is aching to hug him, I am a mere 67 miles away.
  • I received confirmation last week that my brother, who lives in Humboldt County, would be able to come down for the Thanksgiving holiday. Seeing him once a year just isn’t enough. I have been missing him something fierce and am so glad he can get the time off work to make the drive down.
  • My final simple pleasure of last week was you. My amazing supporters, readers, followers, and friends.  The feedback I received last week about One Salty Kiss was humbling. I was overwhelmed with the outreach of positive comments and encouragement. I am so incredibly appreciative. You are what keep me going!

All those cheesy inspirational quotes are really true.  What makes our life truly sweet are the people. It’s not about the shiny things or even the stacks of money. At the end of it all we won’t care about our worldly possessions, we will only care about the love in our heart. The love that can only get there through the experiences we share with the other bodies that occupy this world with us. The people who share our moments . . . the big ones and the small ones.

So thank you for sharing these moments with me! You make my life rich!

Salty Kisses and Happy Thanksgiving!
