Links For Shayne

Whiskey Glass

After I asked a few friends for a critique of my blog, my dear friend Shayne had a request. She requested links . . . said she LOVES blogs with links.

I respect this woman’s opinion immensely. Plus, I like to see her happy. 🙂

So, being the good friend that I am, I am honoring her request for links.

Being a blogger…a lot of my time is spent online. perusing social media, reading what my bloggy friends are up to, looking for inspiration, and of course exercising my writing chops.

I run across many things that leave an impact.

I’ll use this space to pass a few along.

I am not one to follow food blogs because . . . well, I think cooking generally is a pain in the ass. But, the Sour Cream Red Enchiladas from Michelle over at A Dish of Daily Life just looked so tasty. Confession, I did not try this recipe but they . . . just  . . . look . . .so . . . yummy!

I like to follow Michelle because we are both active moms with teenagers, love our many animal fur babies, and like to travel. Plus, she is a woman with a thriving blog . . . something I love to support!

For differing views on the hot topic of which of the 50 shades of grey you might be . . .  author Anne Rice and Michelle, a mom trying to make sense of it for her kids, chime in. While I consider myself a feminist and agree with the foundation of Ms. Rice’s view, I also have kids and definitely don’t want this movie to be a model for their sexuality. I certainly never want them to confuse abuse, or even sex, for love.

On a lighter note, here is a new artist I had the pleasure of seeing live a few weeks ago . . . a fresh face, talented young Brit I keep on my playlist.

“If you’re reading this, you’re alive. That’s reason enough to smile and realize it’s possible.”K.C.   I like to read what Kimanzi has to say because he inspires me to be better and to look at what’s important.

If you missed the Saturday Night Live anniversary special, you can get just a taste and check out my man crushes here.

Sometimes, a lot of the time actually, I just need a laugh.  Twitter is the perfect place to be witty . . . you’re in and out in 140 characters. @envydatropic says, “I slipped on ice and discovered I’m a natural at break dancing.” 🙂

And this . . . because three years ago, in honor of my grandmother, yes my grandmother,  I became a whiskey drinking girl . . . and it suits me just fine.

[Tweet “”She knows it’s not about what it’s in our glass, but the fact that we drink life in completely.””]

Have a great week!

Salty Kisses,

Karen

  1. Awww..thanks, you just made my day! I’ve got two fur babies keeping me company in my office right now. I actually have a bunch of easy recipes on the blog, because who has time?!!! And the enchiladas were yummy. 🙂
I need to go read that 50 Shades post you referenced…personally I am not planning to go see the movie in the theater (although I did read the books) but I will probably watch it when I can rent it at home.

    • Im so glad I made your day. Your recipes always look good and definitely like something I could handle. I just really don’t enjoy cooking . . . which is such a bummer for my hungry family! haha I feel the same about 50 Shades. Read the book and that was all I need. I hope you have a great day! And I will let you know when I try one of your recipes!! 🙂

  2. I made it through the first book and was done. I am amazed how popular it is though. Makes me think what a bunch of sexually suppressed weirdos there are running around. I’m not into the whole voyer thing. So On that note I will not see the movie due to the fact that I do not enjoy watching others have fake (made to look real) sex on screen. to me sex is a private thing. And I especially don’t like rough sex. Well not that you need to know that about me. Haha. Let us know how those enchiladas turn out. Peace from the prude. Lol.

  3. I agree with Shayne. I love links, meaningful links. It’s a great way to learn more about the person behind the blog by seeing what interests and inspires them.

I think it’s a great thing to ask for input from other bloggers. It’s something I’ve been trying to do more often.

  4. Hi – Shayne here. Love the links — especially that fresh faced british boy with the fabulous voice. Thanks for the shout out – you rock!

    • Hey Thank You! That is so sweet! It is definitely a work in progress! I appreciate your comments and any suggestions! Maybe I will do a post about my whiskey drinking grandmother! 🙂
