An Easy Way To Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

Pink Drink Night
Pink Drink Night

It has been 23 of the 31 Days of Pink. My quest to post one thing each day in October to promote breast cancer awareness.

I got to thinking about why this endeavor has been important to me.  After all the silly pink crafts, and quotes and unearthed sadness about my mother’s death to breast cancer, I realized why this is meaningful for me.  It is because of the women in my life. That is why this month and these annoying daily pink things are important.  Because I love the women in my life.  I feel blessed to have been surrounded by such talented, smart, loving, clever, fearless, beautiful women.

[Tweet “I love the women in my life and I want them to take their health seriously, especially during breast cancer awareness month.”]

So, yesterday I decided to see if a few of my local friends were available for a spontaneous “pink drink” night.  I wanted to buy them a pink drink to remind them that I love them and their boobs!  😉

Here is my drink that actually looks like a boob! HaHa

There were seven of us that were able to get together and we had 2 1/2 hours of pink drinks, munchies and laughs.  As usual, the conversation ranged from silly to serious. The beautiful thing about being with these women is that it’s just easy.  No drama, no pretending to be something you’re not, no judgement.  Just love.

Cheers!

As the night came to an end the topic of breast checks and mammograms came up surprisingly, some of them had not had their annual exams yet this year.   Some mammograms had yet to be scheduled. (The guilty will remain nameless to protect their identity.)  😉

After I gave them a verbal spanking we passed out hugs and went our separate ways.

Thinking that they’re not diligent about these appointments made me nervous.   I am pretty good friends with these gals, actually VERY good friends.  I have been talking about all things pink and breasty ad nauseam for weeks! I love and care about them and want them to take care of their health!  I want them around for a long, long time!!!

Maybe I will start sending mass group texts…

“Have you felt yourself up this month?” or “Have you gotten your boobs smashed lately?”

Hmmmmm……

Don’t be surprised! 😉
