Simple DIY Pink Sugar Body Scrub

For breast cancer awareness month and my 31 days of pink I decided to make a DIY pink sugar body scrub.  I adore the part in a pedicure when they use the scrub on my legs and feet so I thought this would be a great thing to make and use at home.  And in traditional One Salty Kiss fashion, it is super simple!

I got a little inspiration from a pin on pinterest but didn’t really stick to that recipe at all.  I used what I had in my pantry.

I used:

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar in the raw
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • pink food coloring
  • coconut body oil

I mixed the two sugars together until they were blended.  You can use light brown sugar instead of sugar in the raw if you prefer.  The granules are finer and a bit less abrasive.

I added the coconut oil and mixed until all the sugar granules were coated.

I then added the food coloring.  My first batch I used purple by mistake.  In my defense, the cap looked pink to me.  For my second batch I used pink however, I put in too many drops right out of the gate.  My advice is to start with 2-3 drops and add as needed until you reach the hue you’re looking for.

Lastly, add essential oils.  I am IN LOVE with a coconut body oil by Ann Marie Gianni so this is what I added to mine but any scent will work.  Whatever you find most enjoyable.

Be sure to store in an airtight container. After settling, my pink batch had a bit too much oil so I added more sugar.

I put mine in mason jars but with better packaging, this would make a lovely gift

So there you have it!!

Super simple DIY pink sugar body scrub for breast cancer awareness month and 31 days of pink.

Pink Sugary Kisses!

***UPDATE!   After using this scrub my skin was as soft as a baby’s butt!  Do not spend money on expensive sugar scrubs in the stores with goodness knows what in the ingredients.  You can have soft skin, use all natural products, and save money with this simple home-made scrub.  It’s win, win , win.  As an added bonus, my perfume seemed to stay on all day.  But this could have been a coincidence.  🙂

Happy Scrubbing!
