About Me

Hey, I’m Karen. And I just want you to know, I’ve been there.

I’ve been stagnant. I’ve been scared. I’ve been trying to please everyone but myself. I’ve looked major life changes in the face and wanted to crawl back in bed and hide under the covers.

I’m not some “expert” here to tell you how to live your life, I am simply a person who’s been there. Someone who, along with a background in counseling, has 45+ years experience being on the planet. Someone who’s been figuring out how to live a life she’s in love with. And I want to help you do the same.

It boils down to three things. Courage. Connection. Keepin’ it real.

  • Courage to listen to our gut, to get the heck out of our comfort zones and to chase our dreams.
  • A deep Connection to ourself and to others.
  • And Keepin’ It Real. Moving through this life with authenticity by being who we truly are, with no apologies!

If we can live our daily lives with these three things, we will have crafted a life worth living. A life we want to jump out of bed for each day.

I want to support you as you go through the journey of reinvention, courageously creating a life you love.

I am a writer, travel lover, animal freak, and daydream enthusiast. I take karaoke and coffee drinking very seriously. I firmly believe it is okay to break out the china on a Tuesday.

I am a mother to two young adults, surf addict, and comfort zone escapee.

And I am entering midlife coming in hot . . . and not just because of hot flashes! 😉

I have a Master’s Degree in counseling and am passionate about connecting with and empowering people to live the boldest, most vibrant life possible.

As a stay at home mom for 17+ years, I received great joy raising my family and running the household. Being a SAHM and growing my kids has been my purpose, however, I lost touch with my passions. Crucial pieces of myself were allowed to lie dormant. I lost sight of the woman I was before I became a wife and a mom.

Now that my kids are older, I am making a conscious decision to nourish those parts of myself that have been in hiding. I also devote time to exploring new passions.

Call it a quest to reinvent myself.

At 35 I discovered surfing.

At 45 I discovered blogging and writing.

At 47 I started a business.

I am leaving myself open to what comes next.

I never would have become a surfer, a writer, or a business owner had I stayed tucked safely inside my comfort zone.

I believe without a shadow of a doubt, that life is short. There are no guarantees.  So, the time to start living our dreams is NOW!

Won’t you join me on the road to becoming deliriously happy with life?

Let’s begin a journey of self discovery!

We will learn to listen to and honor our inner voice!  We will celebrate our worth!  And we will courageously chase our dreams.

Join me as we get out of our comfort zones to reinvent our lives in the juiciest way possible.

Salty Kisses,

Karen

(I also think it’s ok to get tattoos in your 40s – if you want – no pressure.)

Check this out to find out why the heck I named my blog One Salty Kiss.

  1. So beautiful, Karen and I’m talking about your soul, journey and love.
Not bad to look at either, but I see your depth in your eyes.
Smooch, surf & sunshine to you

  2. Hi Karen! Just came over from your Midlife Women link and I think your “About Me” is great. It definitely conveys an active, interesting, positive person with a lot to share. AND you’ve inspired me to redo mine (that’s been LONG overdue!) ~Kathy

    • Ahh Kathy! Thank you so much for taking time to check it out! And thank you for the feedback. Sometimes I get so stuck in my own head-I need outside perspective! 🙂
