Well, we’re on the home stretch.
This is the last Monday in the 31 Days of Pink.
For the post today, I am passing on a few tidbits I learned at my doctor appointment. It isn’t glamorous or sexy but I actually learned a couple of things I didn’t know.
It was the usual annual appointment o’ fun. I got poked and prodded and felt up. Everything looked fine. An A+ until next year!
Here are a few things I learned:
- I discussed my paranoia about my daughter since she has so much breast cancer on both sides of her family. My doctor reassured me that since my sister-in-law tested negative for the BRCA genes, this lessens Payton’s chance of being at a greater risk. PHEW!
- Healthy girls, with no problems or issues, who are not sexually active do not need to see a gynecologist until they are 21.
- Pap smears (sorry guys), aka routine cervical cancer screenings, are no longer being recommended for women every year. The new recommendation is every 3 years for women age 21-65.
So make sure to see your doctor annually and more often if you have ANY concerns!
Salty pink kisses.
