We all have bad days. They are inevitable.
What if I told you there were simple ways to make sure your days were going to be better?
Tricks that can turn your day from mediocre to marvelous?
Well there are.
19 of them to be exact.
Here are 19 ways to improve your day.
1. Say, “Thank you.”
When your eyes first open in the morning or close for the night, take a moment to say, “Thank you.” Thank you for being allowed to live another day. Thank you for your many blessings.
The more you are grateful, the more you find to be grateful for.
2. Visualize the good stuff.
Close your eyes and see it happening. Visualize all the awesomeness that is coming your way today. See yourself tackling your to-do list, killing it in your meetings, slaying all the projects that await you, having meaningful moments with your friends and family, and enjoying your life. When you allow yourself to see it happen, you are setting yourself up to make it happen.
3. Hit the ground running.
Literally. Make time for exercise. Do something every day to move your body.
4. Wear something that makes you feel good.
Not the pants that are too tight, the shoes that hurt, or the shirt that keeps riding up. Wear something you feel like a million bucks in. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just something you love.
5. Set yourself up for success.
Look at your to-do list and get real. Remove from the list anything that you won’t be able to get done. I have had to learn to only put a few things on my list each day. This ensures I can complete them and will feel accomplished at the end of the day instead of disappointed in myself.
6. Minimize distractions.
When you are in productive mode: No phone. No email. No socializing. Head down and get ‘er done.
7. Turn off the inner critic.
S/he has nothing of value to say. Shut her or him off. Notice when s/he is trying to add to the conversation and refuse to let her/him.
8. Replace negative self talk with an affirmation.
My personal favorite lately is, “I can do this!”
9. Do one thing every day that brings you joy.
Throughout your day, make sure you do at least one thing that brings a smile to your face.
10. Say, “Yes!”
When opportunities come your way that will nourish your mind, body, spirit, or sense of fun, say, “Yes.”
11. Say, “No!”
You don’t have to do it all. Give yourself permission to say no to tasks or obligations that do not sustain you, your family, or your bank account.
12. Step away from negativity and the people who bring it.
Separate yourself from drama. It is ok to put up boundaries between you and toxic people. This is part of self-care.
13. Do not gossip or perpetuate negative vibes.
Keep positive thoughts in your mind and positive energy will follow.
14. Appreciate the moment.
Recognize that this moment is really all you have. Enjoy it. Breathe it in.
15. Don’t waste energy on what you can’t control.
And guess what, most things are out of your control. 🙂
16. Get organized and make your to-do list for tomorrow.
This mentally prepares your mind for what you will accomplish. You are more productive when you start your day with a plan.
17. Do not start and end your day on your phone.
Instead – read, meditate, pray, talk, snuggle. Begin and end your day with connection.
18. Pat yourself on the back for your successes today. Even the little ones.
19. Don’t beat yourself up for what you didn’t accomplish today. Tomorrow is a new day.
